Indianapolis Zoo

Back in June I was in Indiana doing some wedding activities: an awesome shower thrown by my mom and sister AND an awesome bachelorette party thrown by my good friend Karen! Thanks again guys! On our last day there, we had planned to go to the Indianapolis Zoo with my parents, my sister, her husband and their two kids. It was going to be Logan's first trip to the zoo! My dad even bought the tickets online the night before because you get a discount when you buy them online. We got there, and they turned us away! The were closed to set up for their yearly gala that night. In the end, I found it online: Closed: Christmas Day, New Year's Day and June 14. It was at the very bottom of the page in small print...good advertising Indianapolis Zoo.

Anyway, we still had tickets and decided to use them the Monday after the wedding! Unfortunately, my brother-in-law wasn't able to join us. Chase and I had stayed in downtown Indy the night before, so we met the whole crew at the Zoo then next morning! My mom was great at manning the stroller!

Our first stop was to the ocean animal exhibit! Logan seemed to like looking at the animals through the glass. He was a bit timid to get too close to the glass. He didn't want to get in the bubble window that you had into the aquarium with all the colorful fish. He was in heaven though when we got to the shark petting pool. Too bad none of them were swimming close enough to the top of the water for us to pet them! I would have had to stick 3/4 of my arm in the water to reach them, so Logan didn't have a chance at touching them. He loves water though, so he still enjoyed watching the sharks and splashing around in the water. He called them fish since he can't really distinguish between a fish and a shark yet.

Logan thought the polar bear was pretty cool. This polar bear wasn't nearly as active as the one at the KC zoo, but it was still cool to see!

By now, we already needed short break. Logan was hungry. He didn't last long eating his food though because he wanted to check out the construction equipment! Why did we pay for the zoo again? :)

At this point in the trip we made a mistake. We headed to the train. Logan loved the train SO much that he did NOT want to leave. There were tears to get him to leave the train platform. Poor little thing just wanted to ride the train. There were a lot of pictures taken on the train. They are the best ones of the day! I'll only post a few and the cutest video ever of Logan.

After dragging Logan away from the train, we headed on to see some more animals! Logan took turns riding on Laurie and I's shoulders. Grandma also got him to stand in the stroller and have a snack and drink every once in awhile. Logan will do anything for Grandma! He's so in love with her!

Logan and I got to feed a giraffe! We refused to buy the $20 dollar picture, so we did't get a good picture because Laurie couldn't get close enough. Logan had the cutest look on his face. He thought it was funny. He got to feed a carrot to the giraffe. We also ventured into the bird feeding exhibit. They had sticks of bird seed that they were giving out. Logan thought it was fun, but he got a little scared when the birds jumped onto the stick.

After some animal feeding fun we headed over to the lion exhibit. As expected all of the lions were asleep! Just like at the Kansas City Zoo. We were just about to head out when one of the lions got on top of the rock and just started roaring. It was really cool. I've never seen anything like it. As you can see, Logan really enjoyed the roaring lion!

A lot of fun was had by all at the Indianapolis Zoo! What a fun way to spend our second day of marriage!
